Mary Latham - RAEY Volunteer

Before heading off on a volunteer trip to RAEY in Ethiopia, Mary Latham visited Craft Land for a sewing machine tutorial. An experienced sewer, Mary came to Craft Land to brush up on her skills, preparing herself for teaching sewing to the ladies of the RAEY community.

During Ramdan of 2012, Craft Land received donated sewing machines and crafting tools and materials on behalf of RAEY as part of the annual Craft Land Trade for Aid program. All the donated items have been shipped to Ethiopia where RAEY plan to utilise them to create employment opportunities for the adults in the community.

We wish Mary good luck with her time at at RAEY - from what we hear so far, things are going well!

Introducing Brother's new V-Series!

We are proud to be launching Brother's new line of embroidery and combination machines, the V-Series. Stop in to Craft Land for a demonstration and test drive; you'll be impressed with the exciting new features Brother has added to these gorgeous machines.

V7 at work

V3 with free stabilizers & threads
We have the V7, a combination sewing and embroidery machine, and the V3 for embroidery only. The V3 is Brother's response to customers' requests for a full-size embroidery-only machine with a large user-friendly screen and generous embroidery hoop sizes. This machine is fantastic if you already have a sewing machine that you love, and want to add embroidery to your work. The bonus? While your embroidery machine is stitching out beautiful designs, you can be sewing on your other machine.

sewing with lasers!
The V7 has some very interesting innovations unique in home sewing machines. The new dual-feed foot is like an enhanced walking foot, feeding your fabric smoothly to help cope with thicker fabrics, layered quilts and fine fabrics too. The new laser pointer helps you to acheive perfectly straight lines, and is adjustable so you can set seam allowances, stitch in the ditch, and even adjust decorative stitches so that they will end where you tell them to. Everything is controlled from the user-friendly touch screen, giving you a really great sewing experience. It's even super quiet while it sews - no need to turn up your music or TV!

As an introductory offer, we are giving away thread and stablizers with each V-Series machine. With V3, you get a Madeira Rayon travel pack of threads and 3 different stabilizers - valued at over 1,400AED. For V7, we are giving you the Madeira Rayon travel pack AND the Quilter's Dream Cotton pack, plus the three stabilizers, valued at over 2,800AED. Offer is good until March 31st while supplies last.

Fast cutting for quilts & more

apple core die & quilt, with GO! Baby cutter

New Accuquilt GO! dies have arrived! We've added some interesting new shapes to our Accuquilt line, for quilting, appliqué, and other uses. If you don't know the Accuquilt system, it's a roller cutter that comes in two sizes, along with maanhy dies to cut fabric strips, triangles, squares and other geometric shapes; specialty quilt shapes such as Double Wedding Ring, Apple Core and more; and lots of fun appliqué shapes like animals, flowers, letters etc. The cutters are very easy to use and super time-saving! Stop in any time for a demonstration, and remember you can use our cutter for your projects if you attend any of our clinics (see our schedule or class descriptions for clinic details).

the new rag dies are great for use with flannel fabrics
The cutters some in two sizes: GO! Baby (see above) cuts all the 5" and 6" dies, and the GO! cutter (below) can handle all the available dies.

tumbler block quilt & dies with GO! cutter

Some of our Craft Land pre-cuts work great with the GO! system. You can use fat quarter packs to make the beautiful batik tumbler quilt, and our 6½" Layer Cake squares make a lovely baby quilt - check out baby Harper on her barnyard tumbler quilt. Now we also have the baby tumbler - you could use our Maxi Roll  of 3½" with that one for cute little tumblers.
