Big Hello from Sue, our new Floor Supervisor

"Welcome to Craftland. Is there anything I can help you with?"  These are the words you’ll hear when you come to Craftland and be met by me, Sue, the new Floor Supervisior. I am new to the shop, but have been with Craftland since November 2012, working at the warehouse as manager of our sewing room.  Im pictured here at our demonstration table in the shop in Jumeirah featuring some of our recommendations for knitting and crochet, including beautiful yarns, introductory kits and samples of patterns available in the shop.

I not only here to greet and help you, I also co-ordinate classes and help book private classes. If you’re a club member, I also host all our clubs on a Wednesday morning. I work Sunday to Thursday and Monday evenings. So if you have any questions about anything in the shop or want help booking a class, please do not hesitate to ask for me. I look forward to meeting and greeting all of you.

Crochet & Knitting by Jenny Williams

Crochet and Knitting : by Jenny Williams.  Teacher at Craftland

When choosing between crochet and knitting the application is key. If you want something that is thicker and more structured or you would like to make a lot of non-linear designs using negative space (e.g. lace), choose crochet. If you want something smooth that drapes well, choose knitting. For instance, I prefer to crochet house slippers and knit socks because the crochet house slippers are thick enough to keep my feet warm and I don't mind if they are a bit stiff but for socks I need the smooth flexibility of knitting as I will wear them with shoes over them--which would push the knots of crochet socks into feet painfully.

People of all ages—can learn how to knit, crochet and craft with yarn because its fun, relaxing and you can make great things, Whatever your reasons for wanting to learn, Craft Land wants to help you get started today. We teach you all the basics and give you instruction about how to make the basic stitches, tips and how to read patterns.

Once you feel that you are ready to begin a project, we have some pattern suggestions for you and as you begin your project, we have clinics you can attend to get the help of a teacher and enjoy the company of other knitting and crochet enthusiasts.

Have fun!

Summer Program

Our summer classes are nearly here! Our regular class schedule is suspended for July & August, to make way for our special summer programming. See the schedule for children's classes, adult classes, and introducing classes for 4-8 year olds...we will have mini classes dedicated to the littlest crafters: the Wee Ones!

Children & teens (eight years old and above) will have July classes in learning how to sew on a machine, and intermediate sewing classes too with classes on sewing a super cute jumpsuit, quilted pillows and a fab tote bag. For August, there are knitting and crochet classes, and week-long Crafting Camps for handwork like cross stitch, applique and weaving.

Adults will be able to take sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and hand embroidery, with full day classes in quilting every Saturday.
Wee Ones classes are two mornings a week in August. The little guys have many craft kits to choose from and will be able to learn some fun new craft skills.
Class sign up is available now, just come on in to Craft Land to get registered!
